Description
Rika, Anna, Betsy and Lize are a standout on the Rijksstraatweg in Haarlem North. These four houses were built in the early 20th century, in a beautiful architectural style that immediately attracts attention. The story is that one of the former residents of number 148 had heard from a relative that the architect of these houses had four daughters. The architect thought it would be a nice idea to name this series of houses after them. Whether it is true, we don't know but it is a good story for the housewarming party.
The corner house on the right, named Lize, could just become your new (t)home. Full of character, with three bedrooms, a nice kitchen, modern bathroom (upstairs) and a bright living room with pellet stove. Let's not forget the practical utility room, spacious (bicycle) storage and the deep garden with private back entrance, because they deserve to be in the spotlight as well. There is the possibility of extension and build-up, allowing you to add extra metres now or in the future. Will you become the new resident of Lize?
This property is on a beautiful stretch of Rijksstraatweg with the Noorder Sportpark, swimming pool De Planeet, as well as primary, special and secondary schools and the trendy coffee shop Nes71 nearby. A supermarket and library are also within walking/cycling distance. The Schoterbos and Hekslootpolder in the direction of Spaarndam are great for walking, jogging and walking the dog. The city centre is fifteen minutes away by bike, but you can also take the bus. And if you want to see the sun set on the beach, hop on a bike to Bloemendaal aan Zee!
Ground floor:
Open the gate and walk to the beautiful entrance of Lize; a house with character and atmosphere. The hall is a spacious and bright reception room with an almost 3-metre-high ceiling and a beautiful granito floor. To the left of the hall is the staircase with thick, soft carpet which blends beautifully with the wallpaper and soft green, wooden wall panels. Below the stairs is a small storage area and the toilet room with a wall-hung toilet, basin and a combination of tiling and patterned wallpaper.
The 8.80-metre-long living room is a living space to enjoy every day. At the front is the sitting area, with a bay window and stained glass upper windows. The dining area, with room for a 6-person table, is at the back of this fantastic house. Beautiful elements include the free-standing Ravelli pellet stove, oak flooring and plastered ceiling with subtle mouldings.
A wide passageway connects the living room with the kitchen, which features a corner unit in a striking colour. Green is combined with black and the thick countertop is done in stylish brown. The 6-burner gas hob, extractor hood, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and wine cooler are built-in. The heated utility room, under the worktop, has space for the washing machine and dryer. You can also access the garden, situated on the south-east, via the utility room.
First floor:
Atmosphere, space and light are also abundant on the first floor. First up is the landing, with a skylight and a generous floor space. On the landing, as on the stairs, there is soft carpet and the panel doors fit in perfectly.
At the rear is the lovely master bedroom and the large bedroom at the front, with a stained-glass upper window, is set up as a double guest room. The third bedroom, now accommodates a large desk, but could also be used as a baby or nursery. All bedrooms have beautiful laminate flooring.
Next to the master bedroom is the bathroom, which was renovated in 2012. The large skylight provides pleasant light and the room is laid out with a wide washbasin cabinet, towel radiator and a walk-in shower.
Garden:
The front garden is fully paved, giving the property all the space it needs to showcase its beauty. On the right side is a long path to a green wooden gate, giving access to the southeast-facing back garden.
The feeling of a lounge garden is abundant in the surprisingly spacious backyard, with two terraces to enjoy the sun all day. The dining terrace adjoins the kitchen and the terrace with pergola is the perfect place for a drink in the sun. You will also see lots of greenery in the garden, with shrubs and plants that are partly evergreen. The stone shed has space for bikes, so they don't have to be outside.
