Surroundings and accessibility
The Amsteldijk forms the edge and dividing line between the Amstel River and the popular 'De Pijp' district and is located in the southern part of the city. The location is very popular due to its central location and the diversity of trendy cafés and good restaurants. Within walking distance are the Albert Cuyp market and the Sarphatipark and there are nice (neighbourhood) shops in, among others, the Van Woustraat and Rijnstraat and a little further down the Utrechtsestraat.
The flat is easily accessible by both car and public transport. It is very conveniently located to the arterial roads, near the Ring A10 (s112) and A2 (exit 110/112) and public transport (bus/tram). By bike, you can reach the NS Amstel station for the train/metro within 10 minutes.

When did you buy the property and why did you decide to buy this property then?
In September 2016, I was immediately sold when the property appeared on Funda. I wanted to stay in the beloved area the 'Pijp' and was looking for a flat I could move into straight away. During the first viewing, it was love at first sight because of the beautiful unobstructed view of the Amstel river and the light that came in. I was also charmed by the characteristic features of the house such as the beautiful original herringbone floor, the high ceilings and the original stained-glass room and suite doors.
What makes it so nice to live in this house and in this neighbourhood?
Actually everything ;) Besides the enormous light, the characteristic features of the house and the beautiful view of the Amstel river, it is a very nice flat. It is well maintained and feels very spacious because of the high ceilings. Above all, you always sit in the sun on the balcony. In the morning, I have a cup of coffee at the front of the house and enjoy the rowers passing by and around lunch I move to the back where I sit in the sun for the rest of the day.
The VVE but also the neighbours around us are immensely nice people. We have good contact and it is tremendously quiet, especially at the back where there is no traffic. In addition, it is very nice that there are always more than enough parking spaces in front of the door or around the house. I also adore all the fine (super)markets, coffee shops, restaurants and the possibilities for endless walks along the Amstel river.
Why are you leaving/why is the house for sale?
After having enjoyed living on the Amsteldike for 7.5 years, I am leaving with my boyfriend and daughter for a more spacious house. Because we enjoy being in De Pijp and Amsterdam Oost so much, we will stay in the neighbourhood.
