Eye-catcherFraai herenhuis met maar liefst 4 woonlagen en een riant dakterras.
Description
In the 19th century, residents of the hamlet of Purmer had to flee floods. They moved to an elevated spot, today's Kaasmarkt, and began building houses and businesses there. One of the streets that was built on at that time is Krommesteeg, where this fantastic building from around 1885 stands. The facade makes it clear that a cigar factory used to be located here, but the property's first use was as a tea warehouse. This is a unique opportunity to buy an entire property in the old center of Purmerend!
The tea warehouse of P. Battum Jzn.was converted into a tobacco and cigar factory a century later, in 1910, by order of Mr. D. Dekker. Next to the store was a drying room where about fifty thousand cigars were left to dry and tobacco leaves were also carved. On the second floor, the leaves were sorted and the cigars rolled. The second floor was used as storage for the tobacco. Now this unique building is a fantastic residence with four floors and a roof terrace, right in the old center of Purmerend.
Since 2004 this building has been beautifully converted into a beautiful mansion with no less than four floors and a spacious roof terrace. In a special way the monumental atmosphere has been preserved. There has been professionally renovated and everything is v.v. contemporary materials, technical installations, facilities, insulation etc.
Layout:
First floor:
Behind the dark green front door s the beautiful hall, with the meter cupboard and an indoor (bicycle) storage room. A large part of the first floor is furnished as a fantastic living kitchen with an oak floor and an impressive beamed ceiling. At the kitchen area is, as in the hall, a floor of hard stone and the kitchen arrangement of generous size is the dream of every cooking enthusiast. The countertops and sink are hard stone and the appliances provide many hours of cooking pleasure.
Second floor:
The first floor is the place to cook, eat and dine for hours afterward. For a good movie, series or listening to your favorite music, the living room is the perfect place. Large windows on three sides provide plenty of light, and here too the atmosphere is set by the oak flooring and high beamed ceiling.
A landing can be reached from the living room, with a spacious toilet room and the stairs to the second floor. Under the stairs is a convenient storage closet.
Second floor:
One floor higher, where tobacco used to be kept, are two bedrooms and the bathroom. In terms of finishes and chosen materials, there is unity, with atmosphere and character abundant.
At the front is the generous master bedroom with a French balcony and a walk-in closet. The large doors betray that the heavy bags of tobacco were hoisted in here.At the rear is the second bedroom, furnished as a study. The bathroom with a deep tub, walk-in shower and double sink is the epitome of luxury. A separate toilet, in the same style, can be reached from the landing.
Third floor:
The place where alcohol was distilled is now the TV room. If as a new resident you are going to use the first-floor living room to watch your favorite movie or series, you have a free hand to give a fill-in to the third floor. The wooden beams, lifting beam and oak floor provide the perfect base for creating a generous bedroom, studio space or home office.
To the rear are two convenient built-in closets and a storage room, which houses the washer and dryer.
Outside:
A fixed staircase gives access to the roof terrace of approximately 18 m2, with views to dream of.Eye-catcher is the St. Nicholas Church, which gives confirmation that you live a very short distance from the Cheese Market....
Surroundings:
The center with many stores, restaurants, cafes and restaurants is literally at your feet. Here you can taste the history of the town, which is unknown to many people from outside Purmerend.Endless shopping, eating out and an evening out starts here, at the Krommesteeg!Through the Zuiddijk there is a quick connection to the A7 towards Hoorn, Alkmaar, Zaandam and Amsterdam.
