When did you buy the house and why did you decide to buy this house?
We bought this house in January 2016 as a pied à terre to be closer to our children and grandchildren. We were enthusiastic about the lightness of the apartment itself and the quiet and green surroundings. We never thought that a neighborhood within the ring road in Amsterdam could be as quiet as this one in the Watergraafsmeer.
What makes it so pleasant to live in this house and in this neighborhood?
The apartment is located in an attractive complex from 1951. What surprised us about this apartment was that it is so light: it is a corner apartment, located on the second floor with windows on three of the four sides. In addition, there are two conveniently located balconies with lots of sun and a "green" view. It is very quiet inside and outside. The shared entrance is only for three apartments.
The neighborhood is wonderfully quiet and offers everything you want:
- Shopping centers: within walking distance of Huygensplein (including AH XL and Hema) and Oostpoort is a 5-minute bike ride away
- Parks: Frankendael, Darwinplantsoen, Oosterpark, Nieuwe Ooster (arboretum)
- Sports accommodations: very good and suitable
- Public transport: tram, bus, metro and train within walking distance. The center can be reached very quickly and very frequently by public transport. The A10 ring road is nearby (S113 Middenweg).
Why are you leaving/why is the house for sale?
None of our four children still live in Amsterdam and neither do the grandchildren; Moreover, they are attending school and no longer need a babysitter from grandparents. We have lived here for 8 years with great pleasure and enjoyed the proximity to the city center.
