Description
Step into this beautiful slice of history along the Amsterdam canals! A truly charming 3-room apartment on the first floor of a stately canal house on Recht Boomssloot, where history and modern comfort seamlessly merge. The building, originally from 1827 and rebuilt in 1943, exudes character, with foundation restoration completed in 2010.
LAYOUT
The layout is surprisingly spacious and bright: a lovely living room with large windows offers a picturesque view of the canal, while a generous dining room - potentially a second bedroom with the addition of a partition wall - sits in the middle of the home. The patio floods the center of the property with extra light. A modern bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen complete the ensemble.
Above all, there is a spacious attic storage room, ideal for all your storage needs. The stairwell has just been renovated (2021), and the stairs are easy to navigate, with the entrance to the apartment located on the first floor.
HOA/ VvE
The active and small-scale Homeowners Association ensures the proper maintenance of the property, with plans for painting the front facade and installing a new front door in 2024, with costs already covered. The HOA is small but active, with a monthly contribution of €212.
LOCATION AND ACCESSIBILITY
The location is unparalleled: situated on a tranquil canal in the vibrant heart of Amsterdam, with the Nieuwmarkt, De Dam, and the Waterlooplein just steps away. Accessibility is excellent, both by car and public transport, with the Central Station and the North/South Line within easy reach. Discover history, enjoy modern comfort, and embrace city life at its best. This is your chance to live in a place steeped in past and future possibilities.
HISTORY
The Rechtboomssloot dates back to the first half of the 16th century. The canal is named after the 16th-century shipbuilder and mayor Cornelis Pietersz Boom. Boom, who himself lived on Rechtboomssloot (at numbers 1 to 3), widened two ditches around 1530, the Rechtboomssloot and Kromboomssloot, into canals to connect his shipyard in Lastage to the IJ. The Kromboomssloot became a cross-canal of the main Rechtboomssloot. As the names suggest, the Rechtboomssloot is straight while the Kromboomssloot has a bend.
