Description
A special place to live, literally around the corner from the Van der Helstplein. This beautiful two-room apartment of about 57 m² is located on the second floor of a monumental building from 1921, where the style of the Amsterdam School is clearly visible. The apartment has two balconies (north and south), a spacious bedroom, neat bathroom and a closed kitchen with built-in appliances.
The building, designed by architect Piet Kramer, includes a block on Rustenburgerstraat, Van der Helstplein and Karel du Jardinstraat. At the beginning of the last century, the "NV Amsterdamsche Bouwmaatschappij" became the owner of the piece of land, issued on long lease. The complex was built in 1919/1920 in an early form of the Amsterdam School style, albeit less exuberant here than elsewhere in Amsterdam. According to the style characteristics of the architectural style, the complex has a symmetrical construction, and you see a combination of a natural stone (mainly the plinth) and brick. Nice details are the sawtooth motifs at the corners, the wooden railings of the balconies and the roof cornices at the streets. The large glass windows of the houses have side lights, also called steps, in addition to overhead lights.
Jaap Huisman, a journalist and writer who publishes widely on architecture, describes Van der Helstplein as a square with a "Parisian atmosphere. This is not only because of the sycamore trees, but also because of this beautiful building. Coffee shops, restaurants, an ice cream parlor, laundry/dry cleaning and other amenities give the neighborhood the atmosphere of a village. Within walking distance, on the Ferdinand Bolstraat, is an Albert Heijn and after a short walk you are in the Sarphatipark. Streetcar and bus are within walking distance and the Albert Cuyp market is a great place to explore.
Layout:
First floor:
At the front, next to Buhrs, is the joint entrance of the apartments at number 323. Big advantage is the location on the second floor, so you have few stairs to climb.
Second floor:
Welcome to your new apartment, brimming with atmosphere and lots of light. In the hall you they the intercom, bright panel doors and a neat laminate floor. This floor is not only in the hall, but in almost the entire apartment. Without thresholds, making the apartment a unit. The 5.20 meter wide living room is located at the front, with beautiful views to the trees and characteristic buildings in the street. French doors give access to a small balcony and on the other side, next to the en-suite doors, the original built-in closet is preserved. The living room can be well laid out with a sitting area, dining table and your favorite home accessories. Behind the en suite doors is the spacious master bedroom, also accessible from the hall. Atmosphere makers are the fireplace, which has a decorative function, and the paneled door of the built-in closet. A large double bed with nightstands and a full-size closet will do nicely in this bedroom. The closed kitchen is optimally laid out with an off-white corner unit with a bluestone countertop and several built-in appliances: a 4-burner gas hob, extractor hood, dishwasher, combination microwave and a refrigerator with freezer (3 drawers). The kitchen is a wonderfully bright space, which the hobby cook will enjoy. In the closet hangs the HR boiler and is a place for the washing machine created.
There is another door in the hall that has not been openend yet, that of the bathroom. This beautiful room with recessed lighting, ventilation and light wall tiles is laid out with a good shower, sink cabinet, large mirror, a radiator and a wall closet.
Outside:
This apartment has not one, but two balconies. The front (north) balcony is adjacent to the living room and the rear (south) balcony is adjacent to the bedroom. Both balconies are accessed through large, French doors. The rear balcony has a closet for extra storage.
