Surroundings
The Eastern Docklands are the part of Amsterdam that lies at the corner of the IJ and the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal. In the late 19th century, a port area was built here to accommodate the increasing trade with the Dutch East Indies. The construction of the railroad and Central Station in front of the city's old harbor front meant that new locations for harbors were needed. One of these harbors was the Entrepothaven, on which today's Zeeburgerkade is located. In 1899 the warehouses Monday through Saturday were built, followed by Sunday in 1903. In the 1990s, the warehouses were completely renovated and converted to housing, keeping the historic character, however, the entire interior layout was completely replaced. Here you will find the advantages of modern concrete floors, walls, insulation and yet the old historic character. The Eastern Docklands are known for their urban construction, striking architecture, spaciousness and of course contact with the water. Everything is around the corner: the Indische buurt, with Javastraat and Flevopark, shopping center Brazil, the caterer, the furniture stores on KNSM island, gyms, the Lloyd Hotel, Club Panama, the IJ and several nice restaurants!
Accessibility
By bike you can be in the center in 15 minutes and at CS in 10 minutes. Good public transport connections to East and West and streetcar will take you to the center or CS in a short time. With the Oostveer you have a very good connection to Amsterdam North (e.g. restaurants De Goudfazant and Hangar). By car you can reach the A10 via the Piet Hein tunnel in a few minutes.
