The attractive village of Breukelen (approximately 14,500 inhabitants) has developed very well in recent years. Many nice stores have established themselves. Branches of large supermarkets such as the Albert Heijn and the Jumbo as well as a Hema, Kruitvat and Etos have managed to find the village and can be reached on foot in 2 minutes. Various stores, cafes and restaurants including "Loetje", contribute to the liveliness and pleasant atmosphere of this beautiful historic village. The terrace of buitenplaats Slangevecht was voted the most beautiful terrace of the province of Utrecht in 2017. Childcare, playgroup, primary and secondary schools (MAVO, HAVO and (bilingual) VWO) are all present in Breukelen. All schools can be reached by bike in less than 5 minutes.
