ENVIRONMENT
The Heugemerveld district (formerly called Akerpoort) is located between the Maastricht-Liège railway line, the Wyck and Céramique districts and the route of the John F. Kennedysingel. Heugemerveld was originally built just after the Second World War according to an urban development plan by Frans Dingemans. It was a traditional working-class neighborhood with mainly rental properties. In recent years, the neighborhood has been revitalized and many of the old homes have been demolished or renovated and in 2008-2009 a lot of new construction took place in the neighborhood, mainly single-family homes such as this type of home offered, which were completed as the final phase.
In terms of facilities, it is a reasonably complete neighborhood with shops (including Lidl), primary school, gyms and public transport (Maastricht Central bus and train station), good connections to the highway to the A2 and within cycling distance of Wyck and the center of Maastricht.
The latter in particular makes it very attractive for people who do not want to live far from city amenities.
