Description
The Friendship is a beautiful National Monument in the historic center of Monnickendam, built in 1856 as an old men's and women's home. In the 1970s, the monumental building was given a function as a home and the name "The Friendship. Fifteen years ago, the building was given a third life as an exclusive residential building with three generous homes, with the middle home currently being offered for sale. This beautiful residence with a living area of 284 square meters has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a music room, office space and two parking spaces in the back yard. The omnipresent history is closely intertwined with the living comforts of today, so you will lack nothing.
You get the chance to live in the heart of beautiful Monnickendam, on the Kerkstraat which follows the Herengracht and Lindegracht from the Speeltoren in a southwesterly direction as it makes its way through the center. Several stores, specialty stores and restaurants within walking distance make living here very attractive. At the marina there is also much to see; sailboats and yachts from large to small. On the east side of the harbor is the Hemmeland, where you can take a lovely walk. Monnickendam has a very attractive living environment for young and old, with schools and sports facilities as attractive amenities.
Layout:
First floor:
At the entrance, above the front door, you will see a so-called sun path. This is an ancient symbol for the recurring cycle of the seasons. The grandeur of The Friendship is reflected in the beautiful hallway, where the beamed ceiling and hard stone floor immediately catch your attention. These elements go well with the white panel doors and double doors with glass, which connect the hall with the living room. In the right part is the toilet room with a wall closet, urinal and sink.
On either side of the hall are a music room and a cozy office space, both with the same floor as in the hall. Through the large windows with rod division you look at the beautiful Kerkstraat, where many monumental buildings stand. In the office space, completely in style with the house, a large closet wall with sliding stairs has been made.
The living room with double, sliding garden doors is a fantastic living space with an oak floor, fireplace and a classic radiator. There is a semi-open connection to the kitchen, making the whole living space look even more spacious. A large dining table and a comfortable sitting area can be well placed here.
For the cooking and baking enthusiast, the kitchen is an important place. This fantastic home features a luxurious, custom-built kitchen with plenty of room for kitchen appliances, condiments, dishes and other kitchen items. All top-quality appliances are built-in: a gas stove, hood, dishwasher, coffee maker, combination oven and a large refrigerator/freezer. Cold tap water, like ice cubes, is readily available. Next to the kitchen is a convenient storage room cum pantry.
Second floor:
Follow the black staircase with built-in wall lights and you will reach the spacious, bright landing. Behind the white paneled doors are two spacious bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Also adjacent to the landing are a separate toilet room and an indoor storage room.
The master bedroom with walk in closet and private bathroom is located at the rear. This bright room has a very spacious layout, partly because there is no need for a closet. Behind double doors is the bathroom with a bathtub, two bluestone sinks and a double walk-in shower.
At the front is the second, also spacious bedroom. In terms of floor, wall and ceiling finishes is chosen for unity because here is also an oak floor. The attached bathroom is divided with a walk-in shower, wall closet and a wide sink made of hard stone.
Second floor:
That this is an ultimate family home is proven by the second floor. Adjacent to the spacious landing with skylight are two more (sleeping) rooms and a bathroom. In several places, the wooden roof construction is clearly visible, which together with the floor finish and dormers creates a fantastic atmosphere. Given the size of the rooms, this floor can be considered an indoor apartment.
At the front is a cozy bedroom and the xl-bedroom at the rear is currently arranged as a sitting room cum gym. Nice element is the mezzanine, furnished as a guest room so there is no lack of space.
The bathroom, performed in the same style as the other bathrooms, is beautifully laid out with a walk-in shower, a wide sink made of hard stone, a wall closet and an infrared sauna. Optimum enjoyment of your own wellness at home, in the heart of Monnickendam.
Garden:
From the living room and kitchen you can reach the stylishly landscaped, deep city garden. Much of the planting is evergreen and the terrace has a generous size. The view to the tower of the Nicholas & Anthony Church, which rises above the greenery, is beautiful. The wooden storage/hobby room with shed under the red-tiled roof has room for bicycles and garden/craft tools. Amenities such as electricity, water, drainage and a kitchenette are available. Next to the shed is a gate giving access to the parking area.
Surroundings:
The location in the historic center, within walking distance of the marina, is beautiful. Enjoy the fantastic atmosphere you experience here, with many monumental buildings and houses in narrow streets. The bus stop is within walking distance, from where you can travel towards Amsterdam, Purmerend and Hoorn. Monnickendam has an excellent location about 20 car minutes from Amsterdam and about 15 minutes by bus to the North-South line stop (Station North).
