Description
Stylish living in this characteristic, fully renovated mansion from 1915 on the beautiful Schiedamseweg. You live in beautiful Vlaardingen, about 10 kilometres from the centre of Rotterdam and 20 kilometres from the centre of The Hague. For families, expats, for working from home or and for an artistic studio, this is a fantastic place to live, with the city within easy reach and Vlaardingen's many amenities within walking/cycling distance. After a short walk, you are in park 't Hof, where the famous Vlaardinger Willem van Ruytenburgh had his country house. When you walk through the park, you will completely relax. If you opt for space and quality, this town house offers excellent value for money.
You can walk to theatre 'Stadsgehoorzaal', Cultural Centre 'De Windwijzer', Park 't Hof and the cosy centre with shops, terraces, restaurants and other entertainment venues at the atmospheric Oude Haven. So, for a roof-top shopping trip or an evening out, you never have to look for a parking spot again. Many residents take a walk in Park 't Hof, visiting the animal pasture and stopping off at Pannenkoekenhuis Het Hof. Via Callenburghstraat, you can walk to park Oranjehof in a few minutes and by metro it is only 10 to 15 minutes to the beach of Hoek van Holland. Rotterdam city centre is also easily accessible by metro and after a few minutes you are on the A4 and A20 motorways. How great is that?
While retaining character, the townhouse has been completely renovated using high-quality materials. Truly everything has been thought of, so you can soon unpack the moving boxes and put down your furniture. The stained-glass windows are a feast for the eyes, and you will also see high style ceilings, the original vestibule door and beautiful panel doors. A few more advantages; this fantastic house is on private land and the roof terrace, like the patio garden, is south facing. Beneath the beautiful herringbone floor is an insulated concrete floor, making for a house with lots of comfort. On the ground floor is the cosy living room with designer wood-burning stove, and through the beautiful white pivot doors you reach the dining room, which is connected to the luxurious kitchen diner. French doors connect the kitchen to the intimate patio. The upper floors offer four good bedrooms, a spacious bathroom brimming with luxury and a sunny roof terrace.

History in the characteristic Oostwijk
What do the Night Watch and The Oostwijk have to do with each other? Quite a lot, a brief history lesson tells us. The Amsterdam spice merchant Pieter van Ruytenburch built a Buitenplaats on Vlaardingen's outlying meadow in 1611. His son Willem rebuilt this Buitenplaats Van Ruytenburch in Renaissance style and happens to figure as 'the man in yellow' in Rembrandt's world-famous painting. The garden, Park 't Hof, became a public park in 1870 and was extended with the Oranjepark in 1938.
Schiedamseweg is a street where shipowners had their capital villas built in 1881. If you want to enjoy the greenery, you can walk from your home in a few minutes to park 't Hof and the Oranjepark where you can leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind. After a visit to the animal pasture, you can settle down on the terrace of the pancake house or the terrace of the Water Tower. From the terrace is crowded by residents, taking a break from walking their dogs.
