The Orchard is located in a prime location in the center of Rijswijk. The area in which The Orchard II is located is being developed into a versatile, future-proof and contemporary city center that is equipped with all conveniences. A lively and green place where you can live, shop and stay pleasantly and comfortably.
The name of this new construction project is a nod to the name Bogaard and refers to the new, lively and green Bogaard city center. The public space is the connecting factor between the buildings. The municipality of Rijswijk, in consultation with developers, pays a lot of attention to the design, the atmosphere and street lighting. The two buildings were designed by two leading architectural firms.
The Orchard I was designed by De Zwarte Hond and has a plinth with commercial functions. On the 4-storey substructure, with a green roof garden for residents, two residential towers of different heights are provided. Barcode Architects designed the second building, The Orchard II. The Orchard II is located on a new square with space for terraces of the catering establishments that are planned in the plinth. From the first floor rises a contemporary residential block of approximately 50 metres high that ‘rejuvenates’ as more height is reached. This creates roof terraces, which are partly decorated with greenery. The whole forms a playful ensemble with high residential quality.
The Orchard II is characterised by a strong all-round appearance with a special materialisation and stepped shape. The building offers space for 102 apartments and approximately 300 bicycle parking spaces. The plinth connects to the commercial functions of the city centre. The private parking spaces for the residents of The Orchard II are located in The Orchard I.

Surroundings
De middelgrote gemeente in Zuid-Holland telt circa 55.000 inwoners en is zeer gunstig gelegen ten zuiden van Den Haag en ten noorden van Delft en Rotterdam. Mede door deze ligging is Rijswijk een populaire woonplaats voor een diverse doelgroep. De ligging in de Randstad maakt Rijswijk een belangrijk onderdeel van de Metropoolregio Rotterdam Den Haag. De regio is met name bekend om de diverse vormen van bedrijvigheid door de Rotterdamse haven, het internationale karakter van Den Haag en de agrarische sector in het Westland. Daarnaast huisvest Delft één van de meest toonaangevende technische universiteiten van Europa, waardoor de regio vele studenten en bedrijven aantrekt.
De bereikbaarheid van The Orchard is uitstekend. De A4 (Amsterdam – Den Haag – Rotterdam) is binnen 3 minuten te bereiken met de auto. Ook liggen er op loopafstand van de locatie meerdere openbaar vervoer verbindingen, zoals een bus- en tramhalte en het treinstation. Station Rijswijk ligt ondergronds en is een van de stations tussen de drukke treinverbinding Rotterdam-Den Haag. Elke 15 minuten vertrekt er een trein naar Den Haag en Rotterdam.
