We first heard of Makelaar Bert in 2019, through the recommendation of a friend. The eponymous Bert Jonker himself helped us in the final stages of purchasing an apartment we were interested in. He gave us honest advice on the value of the property, helped us in negotiating and deciding on the right amount to bid and then guided us throughout the whole process after our bid got accepted. We are currently very happy living in that apartment and still think back fondly on how he managed to reassure any doubts we had during the whole nerve-wracking experience. Obviously, because of this great first impression we decided to contact Makelaar Bert again a few weeks ago, for selling our previous apartment. This time we got makelaar Kim Meeuwisse assigned. She was very helpful in setting up a great selling strategy including recommendations for using a reliable home staging specialist (Kalter & Kalter) and a talented real estate photographer (John Li). Kim was quick to respond to any questions in person as well as via any modern online means (e.g., FaceTime, WhatsApp, email etc.) and never rushed or pushed us in any way. Besides Bert and Kim, we are also very grateful to the administrative staff comprising of Michelle, Berfin and Ester, who ensured that we were always up to date on the next step and therefore keeping our stress levels to a minimum throughout the process. The end result was a higher than expected price for our apartment in Amsterdam Oost, which sold within two weeks of first appearing on Funda. Our buyer also mentioned how satisfied she was with dealing with Kim on her end. The brokerage fee and additional charges are definitely not on the low end, but are reasonable for the amount and quality of services they offer. They clearly have a passion for what they do and expert knowledge through experience to back it up. They have now proven themselves twice to us, so we are definitely spreading the word and will certainly go back to Makelaar Bert for any future need of a reliable real estate agent in Amsterdam.
