Description
IN THE FORMER COACH HOUSE OF THE VENIIAE HOF (municipal monument built at the end of the 17th century) NEWLY RENOVATED ATTRACTIVE THREE-ROOM APARTMENT OF 83M2 ON THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND QUIETEST CANAL OF THE JORDAAN.
This apartment is an attractive resting point in the Jordaan. Here you drink your first coffee outside on the canal and you know that life is good! The current owners recently purchased the apartment and completely renovated it tastefully and high-end, but have decided to leave for France; in short, an opportunity.
CLASSIFICATION
Through the large hall you enter the apartment into the kitchen/diner with the large French doors. The passion of the current owner is immediately noticeable here: Cooking! This is a professional and very expensive Gaggenau kitchen that is equipped with the most advanced equipment (large refrigerator and floor, induction hob, professional steamer with its own inlet and outlet, vacuum sealer, etc.) In the living room we also find the monumental china cupboard; a real eye-catcher! The sitting room with cozy fireplace can be combined into a large living room. The piano room connects to the bright bedroom (with walk-in closet) and the completely newly built bathroom. There is a beautiful wooden floor throughout the apartment and the apartment is fully equipped with underfloor heating.
Next to the apartment is the associated alley with authentic 17th-century details that has its own entrance from the canal, offers the opportunity to store bicycles and has a large storage space.
Location:
The Lauriergracht is famous for its beautiful light, painted by many famous painters.
Lauriergracht is a side canal of the Prinsengracht, and close to the 9 streets, Soho house, Double W Hotel and Noordermarkt. The apartment is located in a very quiet part of the canal belt. Conveniently located in terms of accessibility, by car & public transport (direct connection to Schiphol). The spacious covered parking garage, open 24/7, is a 3-minute walk away.

HISTORY:
The founder of the hofje VENETIAE was a seventeenth century merchant and cashier of the VOC man Jacob Stoffels. He traded a lot with Italy, especially Venice, hence the name he gave to his house and courtyard behind it. The entrance with VENETIAE carved in large letters in the facade also gives access to an alley with the text “peace be with this house”. It was built in 1650, 13 houses for poor widows and elderly spinsters. When he died in 1671, he made Gerrit van Maarloop his executor. After the death of his sister and only heiress Anna Stoffels, the board fell entirely to Van Maarloop. Around 1709, this regent had 17 more houses built, in a sober classicist style. At that time the courtyard became known as “Van Maarloopshofje”. On March 2, 1685, it was granted freedom from all burdens and imposts and freedom from "Stadts excise".
